What’s in season?

Posted: Wednesday 21st October, 4:18pm

Around the end of the harvest season, we’ll see all kind of tasty sizeable vegetables in our local shops and supermarkets. We know how much better fruit and veg tastes when it’s in season (and it can be cheaper too!), so why not incorporate the following into your shopping list and celebrate autumn!

At their best:
Artichoke, aubergines, beetroot, broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, celeriac, courgettes, garlic, kale, leeks, marrow, onions, peppers, pumpkin (of course!), radishes, rocket, sweetcorn, watercress, apples, blackberries, elderberries, figs, grapes, pears and plums.

With such a wealth of great tasting veg, why not try whizzing up a warming soup or two in the evenings. It doesn’t take long and you can let your imagination run wild. And with the fruit – well, it’s just crying out to be blended into a nutritious morning smoothie.
